Help

Okay... so you can tell from my last post that I obviously have no idea how to get the pictures to do what I want.  Everybody else has such cute blogs and mine is pretty boring.  If anybody has some great tips, websites, etc... that could help me figure out how to spruce it up a bit, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This Is Halloween

For some unknown reason, Halloween has become one of my favorite holidays.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't really decorate my house during the rest of the year, mostly just October to December, and it's fun to feel festive all over.  Halloween has changed a bit since I was a kid.  Our school does not host an class parade where all the parents come and it seems like my kids go to considerably fewer houses trick-or-treating than I did.  On the upside, they seem to get better candy than I did when I was a kid. That is a great thing, because let's be honest, I'm going to eat most of it.

This year, my kids didn't have school on Halloween (thank you Teacher Work Day.)  That left us with most of Friday to get ready for the big night.  We carved pumpkins, made lots of caramel apples, cooked our annual dinner of Hallo-weenies and chili, and got bathed dressed and ready for the big night.

Our kids were so cute dressed in their costumes.  Erin went as Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl (which I have been encouraging since the movie came out.)  Allie went as Mulan (with the matchmaker make-up: can't forget that part.)  Jack went as Buzz Lightyear, shouting a garbled version of "To Infinity and Beyond.  I was just happy that he kept his costume on.  My niece Lizzy went with us as well and was adorable as Alice in Wonderland.

This year we decided to host a little Halloween Open House after the candy-gathering.  We had many of our neighborhood friends over after trick-or-treating.  The kids watched Nightmare Before Christmas and the grown-ups got to sit upstairs and talk, mostly uninterrupted.  It was a lot of fun.

All in all, it was a great night.  Now..... I have spent my morning organizing my Christmas music and getting started on my Christmas cards.  Merry Christmas, here we come!
